What iTunes Error 3194 Mean & How to Fix it!
What iTunes Error 3194 Mean

Whenever you
restore a stock or custom IPSW of any firmware on your iDevice, iTunes
request Apple servers to sign the IPSW with the ECID (Exclusive Chip ID)
of your iDevice which is called SHSH Blob. As soon as new firmware gets
released, Apple stops signing your ECID for old firmwares which result
in iTunes 3194 error.

How To Identify Fake GEVEY Sims & Avoid Getting Scammed
Ever since I unlocked my iPhone 4 using GEVEY Sim, I was facing battery drainage problems and also the area around the sim slot was getting over-heated. I thought my battery drain was due to iOS problems or over-usage.
Today I was going through Yahoo! Answers and found this question. I found the answer posted xbowlover interesting. Here’s what he says about the difference in original and fake GEVEY Sims:
The main difference is they use different chips. The original one uses F981 chips. You can see the digital numbers on the gevey SIM (The black part). And the copy one uses F300 chips. The manufacturers usually wipe the numbers out, and you will not see any digital numbers on the black part.
Only original Gevey SIM comes with F981 as they have bought out this chip in the market, so others can only use F300. And the original Gevey SIM drains less battery and has better signal reception.

TinyUmbrella 5 (Beta 1 support)
TinyUmbrella now supports 5.0b1 for all devices. I've added a few nag messages to remind people to update their settings. "Request SHSH from Cydia" and "Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit" should be disabled by users as soon as possible especially if you are having issues saving your SHSH. Cydia is ramping down it's proxy service and will eventually offer it no more. It will continue to host SHSHs and I'm working on the new TinyUmbrella which will integrate with those new features.
Also note that if you preserve your baseband with TinyUmbrella and go to 5.0b1, you will not be able to 'fixrecovery' until I am able to update it. Sorry - I just don't have time to fix it at this moment.

Jailbreak Tweak Claims to Improve iDevice Network Throughput Speeds
TCP optimizer is aimed at improving network throughput speeds. This would improve performance of YouTube and other applications. Although I don’t have any beef with the way YouTube is currently running, any tweak that advertises noticeable speed improvements is worth a shot…
TCP optimizer is pretty barebones, with no home screen icon or place in the Settings app. So what exactly is this tweak supposed to do?

Future iPhones Could Come With Sensors To Detect Elevation, Mood & Lots More
Apple’s iPhone already comes with a number of sensors such as GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity light sensor, ambient light sensor and digital compass that enhance user experience.
So what should we expect in the future iPhones? The New York Times' Nick Bilton spoke with Benedetto Vigna, General Manager of the MEMS division of STMicroelectronics, a company that creates sensors for mobile devices to find out the answer to that question.
According to Benedetto Vigna, we should expect the following types of sensors in mobile devices in the future:
- Altimeter sensors that would be able to detect your elevation. Vigna explains how the altimeter sensors could be used: “These sensors will tell people what floor they are on in a building, or could be used to more precisely determine where you are in relation to your friends on a location-based service.”
- Heart monitors to keep tab of your health.
- Sensors to detect perspiration.
- Sensors could be used to monitor your excitement level and even mood. He explains that sensors that can detect mood and excitement will usher in an era of video games that will factor in emotion during gameplay.
- More microphones, and temperature and humidity sensors to better determine their location and surroundings.
- Some companies are working on sensors for security and privacy on mobile phones. According to him, one way to do this is to build software that detects how you hold and interact with the device — almost like a motion fingerprint. After you use a new phone for a short period of time, it will start to learn your patterns and automatically lock or unlock the phone accordingly. This could be used for more secure banking too.
Mr Vigna explains:
”Sensors will be everywhere in the next few years and will be able to help people become more conscious of the environment and our own health.”
We can’t wait to see these sensors making it to the next generation iPhone. What about you? Let us know in the comments below.

How To Fix iPhone Or iPad Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues After Upgrading To iOS 4.3.3
Problems reported after upgrading iOS 4.3.3 :-
- iPhone 4 says it connects to the Wi-Fi network, but the Wi-Fi icon never appears
- Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting and reconnecting on its own
- Can no longer use Wi-Fi at all unless within close proximity to the router
- Can't connect to Wi-Fi at all on device running 4.3.3, but devices running 4.3.1 have no trouble on same network
- Wi-Fi won't work, and resetting network settings doesn't fix
- Wi-Fi shows signal, but device can't connect to the Internet
Basic Troubleshooting:
If this doesn't work then try to renew IP address, which may be required if you are using a larger wireless network.
- Launch Settings app
- Tap Wi-Fi
- Turn Wi-Fi toggle off and then on again

iPad Typing Tips: Quick Apostrophe and Quotation Marks
The iPad keyboard behaves and is laid out differently than the iPhone keyboard. One crucial difference is the way in which the Symbols key (.?123) behaves. On the iPhone, all you have to do is tap on the Symbols key, select a symbol you want to type, and the iPhone’s keyboard will automatically snap back into the standard QWERTY layout. The iPad is different here, since it takes a manual tap on the Symbols key to return to QWERTY mode after (except in the case of an apostrophe).
However, as Macgasm pointed out a year ago, holding down on the comma or period keys will allow you to type an apostrophe or quotation mark, respectively, without ever having to leave the QWERTY layout. No Symbols key needed. If you want to be even faster, you can simply swipe up on comma or period to achieve the same result.
I love this little trick and would likely have never discovered it on my own, so a big thanks to Macgasm for pointing it out.

Gevey Sim No service Problem fixed
What is Gevey Sim?
Gevey Sim, a sim created by hacker team of China, which works as a hardware based unlock(unlike ultrasn0w a software based hack) on iphone 4 baseband 1.59.00, 2.10.04 & 3.10.01.
How it works?
It works on the basis of IMSI(INTERNATIONAL MOBILE SUBSCRIBER IDENTITY) hack by tricking TMSI(TEMPORARY MOBILE SUBSCRIBER IDENTITY(.
What is an IMSI?
IMSI is a unique number containing MCC(MOBILE COUNTRY CODE) & MNC(MOBILE NETWORK CODE) that corresponds to your account in the mobile carrier's database.
Sample IMSI NO:: 429 02 9806512345
(429 is MCC for Nepal, 02 is MNC for Ncell and rest part is Mobile number)
What is TMSI ?
TMSI is a 4 byte code which identifies Iphone before IMSI is sent and proceeded.
What is the relation of TMSI to Iphone & how it works?
Before apple use to only check IMSI through Iphone baseband versions to use the carrier/network. As apple found IMSI recognization process was unlocked by ultrasn0w it has introduced TMSI identifying procedure to make tough & almost impossible for ultrasn0w work to in it.
Then, how did Gevey Sim Managed to overcome TMSI procedure to unlock Iphone-4?
As we know, although any brand mobile is locked to any carrier of any country, it will still be able to dail 112(emergency call mode number) with Sim and also without sim.Gevey Sim tricks Iphone by using same number to get TMSI for your connection.Gevey sim is made in such a way that it's interposer rapidy cyle a list of IMSI to find an acceptable MCC/MNC combination which cheats your carrier and make it think like IPHONE 4 is factory unlocked.
How to Unlock Iphone 4 with Gevey Sim?
As Gevey Sim is a hardware based hack so it doesnot needs jailbreaking process can be done without any pc skills.Easy Steps are already inside Gevey Sim's User Guide, but still if you lost it here are steps for you.
Step 1: Chop a small part of your sim card to fit in gevey sim card.Make it look like.

Step 2: Fit the cutted sim with the gevey Sim and put it on the metal sim tray.
Step 3: Turn off your iphone and insert your Simcard and Gevey Sim together.
Step 4: Turn on your iphone and wait for the Sim welcome menu to show and then select "accept"
Step 5: At the beginning a "no service" message will show on your IPHONE, don't do anything and wait until you see one signal bar appears on the top left corner.
Step 6: After you see the signal bar dial "112" and hang up within 2 seconds.
Step 7: Turn on the Airplane mode(Iphone Homescreen-Settings) and then turn off right away. Your iphone will show "Sim Failure" and then "No sim card Installed"
Step 8: Until the "NO SIM CARD INSTALLED" message shows up turn on the Airplane Mode again and turn it off right away again. As the "Sim Failure" shows up wait for few seconds.Network signal will show up after few seconds.
Note:- If still you have no networks signal follow the procedure from Step 3.To use 3g network Data roaming option must be on from the network menu.
As at current gevey sim is the only unlock beside the factory unlock(Buying a unlocked iphone or buying an unlock through www.cutyoursim.com).To unlock through ultrasn0w your iphone 4 must have bb 1.59.00 either you need to save it or downgrade to it(which isn't impossible but almost not possible). So, you may problems like "No service" and no network signals problem.
What are the problems regarding GEVEY SIM and where should I be aware?
If you get such problems after few hours or minutes your iphone was having signals through Gevey sim then see the carrier option under iphone iphone homescreen-settings.

What are the problems regarding GEVEY SIM and where should I be aware?
- Gevey Sim is just like a tethered jailbreak you do to your iphone which requires to tethered it with every reboot. You should not switch off your iphone or let the battery be fully down.If you did so you need to restart the procedure as above(start from step-3).
- Problems like "No service" are usually seen in networks having low signals. So if you are in such networks it is better not to buy Gevey Sim until it's an emergency.
- You must dial and check if "112" works or not before paying for a Gevey Sim.
- SIM interposer will not harm your iPhone hardware but it can get your account banned from your network provider if they knew that you have spoofed your IMSI and ICCID. Its only in China that GSM companies know this loophole but still don't bother to close it, since it's product of china.
If you get such problems after few hours or minutes your iphone was having signals through Gevey sim then see the carrier option under iphone iphone homescreen-settings.
- If Carrier Option(under homescreen-settings) is missing follow the procedures as in above(from Step 3).
- If carrier option is still there, try switching airplane off and on if it didn't work then tap on carrier option and let the carriers be loaded(searching will be seen on screen). Then select the corresponding carrier you are using from the list.If it doesnot solve your problem then follow above procedures(from step 3) again.Still if you see same problem then you got a cheap Gevey sim please return it and buy a more expensive one.

It’s been a while since Apple rolled out the iOS 4.3.3 for the users of iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G, and iPod Touch 3G. Well, if you are iOS user who rely on Ultrasn0w carrier unlock, then you probably jailbreak your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS using either PwnageTool 4.3.3 (for Mac Os X users) or with Sn0wbreeze 2.7 in order to preserve the unlockable baseband in order to unlock your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS on its carrier using Ultrasn0w 1.2.3.
However, there were some reports that some iPhone 3GS with custom iPad baseband (6.15.00) who unlocked their device on iOS 4.3.3 are having some issues on their gadget, specifically the battery life of their device. So, if you are one of the iPhone 3GS who have some issues on their battery then you can follow the step by step guide and tips posted below to resolve this issue. PKGBackup:- How To Backup And Restore Your Jailbreak Apps, Settings, and Preferences
There are many different methods devised by just as many people, but there continues to be a lingering sense of misunderstanding among the throngs of jailbreakers.
Fortunately there is one surefire way to backup your iPhone, and all of your jailbreak settings each and every time by means of a handy little jailbreak app called PKGBackup…
But if this tool is so good, why are so many people still confused about how to backup their jailbreak apps, tweaks, and settings on their iPhone?
The main problem with PKGBackup is its learning curve. Due to its many settings, and its not so intuitive UI, it can be quite confusing.
Add that to the steep overall initial investment — the app rings up at $7.99 on the Cydia store — and you have the perfect recipe of cost + confusion; just enough to keep would be PKGBackup-ers away.
Let me be the first to admit that indeed, PKGBackup can be confusing. The good news is that if you follow this guide step-by-step, you’ll be on your way to backing up and restoring your iPhone’s jailbreak data with confidence.
Before we get started
Before backing up and restoring your jailbreak settings, I highly suggest that you become familiar with iTunes‘ built in backup feature for all of your App Store apps, SMS messages, email settings, and things like that. There is a so-called “Apple Default Apps” setting in PKGBackup, but I recommend that you keep the two backup functions separate. Let iTunes do the heavy lifting for all of your official stuff, and let PKGBackup handle all of your jailbreak data.
Keeping these two duties separated will ensure that things remain simple and concise; that’s important when it comes to backing up and restoring your precious data.
Purchase and Download PKGBackup
This part is simple enough. If you have a jailbroken iPhone, head over to Cydia, and do a search for PKGBackup.Once you find the package, you will have to purchase it for $7.99. That’s admittedly very pricey, but you’ll have to decide if the convenience factor is worth the up front investment.
Setting up PKGBackup to Work With Dropbox
This is a relatively recent addition to PKGBackup, and is really the thing that sold me on its usage. Prior to Dropbox integration, your preferences and things were saved by means of a contact entry. That option is still available to use, but I highly recommend you go the Dropbox route when it comes to using PKGBackup. At the main PKGBackup Screen, you will see a little gear icon in the upper left-hand corner. Tap that gear icon to venture into PKGBackup’s main settings screen.
Next, provide your Dropbox information so that your Dropbox account can be linked to PKGBackup and tap ‘Link.’
Deciding What You Want to Backup
One of the best things about PKGBackup, and ironically one of its downfalls, is the sheer amount of options provided to the user.PKGBackup is very granular in the sense that you can literally decide on each and every aspect of your jailbreak settings that you want backed up and restored.
This is awesome for those who are intimately familiar with file structure and jailbreaking, but it can be a tad overwhelming for someone who just wants to make sure that biteSMS is installed the next time they restore their iPhone.
For that very reason, I’m keeping this tutorial fairly high level, and will recommend settings that will cover all of the major bases.
At the bottom of your main PKGBackup screen you will notice four separate buttons — Refresh, and three others that change depending on which mode you’re in.
Backup mode options look like this:
In fact, while in backup mode, go ahead and tap the refresh button, and you should see the following dialogue box:
For simplicity sake, I won’t be going there in this tutorial, but I wanted to make you aware that the option does indeed exist.
Performing a Backup
Now it’s time to actually perform our backup. Can you guess what we’ll do next? Exactly, tap the ‘Do Backup’ button at the bottom-right.Now you have a working backup that can be used in the event that you need to restore your apps, settings, preferences, springboard configuration, and more.
Performing a Restore
After you’ve successfully created a backup, restoring that backup is extremely easy, especially since you’re using your Dropbox account. For illustration purposes, lets say you’ve completely restored your iPhone to factory settings, jailbroken your iPhone, and used iTunes to restore all of your App Store Apps, emails, SMS messages, etc. What now? Well the only thing missing is all of your jailbreak apps and data.
The first thing you need to do is go into Cydia and reinstall PKGBackup. After PKGBackup is reinstalled, use the instructions above to link your Dropbox account with PKGBackup.
Once your Dropbox account is linked, select restore mode, and tap the refresh button to grab your backups for Dropbox.
If you have multiple backups, you can select the backup that you want to work with by tapping the disk icon and then selecting a specific backup as shown below:
Summing it All Up
To sum things up, here’s what I recommend for those of you who might restore their iPhone often.- Configure your iPhone just how you like it, that means App Store Apps, iPhone settings, preferences, jailbreak apps, preferences, everything.
- Backup your iPhone with iTunes, and take note of the specific backup.
- Backup you iPhone with PKGBackup, and take note of the specific backup.
- Restore your iPhone.
- Jailbreak your iPhone.
- Restore from iTunes backup.
- Restore from PKGBackup backup.
